Lynda.com, a Carpinteria, CA-based online education company, raised $103m in its first funding round.
Backers included Accel Partners, Spectrum Equity and Meritech Capital Partners.
The company plans to use the capital to expand internationally, broaden content areas, and add new mobile platforms.
Founded in 1995 by Lynda Weinman and Bruce Heavin, who will mantain their roles as executive chair and chief creative officer, respectively, and led by CEO Eric Robison, Lynda.com provides software, technology, creative and business training to individual, corporate, academic and government customers.
The company, which currently offers approximately 1,500 courses, Is now working to add online courses in non-English languages.
In conjunction with the funding, Andrew Braccia of Accel and Vic Parker of Spectrum, joined lynda.com’s board.
