Surgital, a Lavezzola (RA), Italy-based company that produces deep-frozen fresh pasta and sauces for hotels, restaurants and catering, received an €11m equity financing from Fondo Italiano di Investimento.
With the investment, Fondo Italiano acquired a 15% stake in the company, which will use the proceeds to grow organically, expanding its production facilities, as well as via acquisitions of food companies abroad.
Created in 1980 by Edoardo Bacchini and Romana Tamburini, Surgital produces deep-frozen fresh pasta and sauces for restaurant cooking and catering, as well as ready to cook deep-frozen dishes for the bar and snack outlets (see the products). Its plant is located in Lavezzola, in the province of Ravenna, and covers a total area of 60,000 sq.m, of which 26,000 are dedicated to production and 25,000 m3 to cold storage rooms at -18C.
The company currently employs 200 people with a turnover of over €50m in 2011. It operates a sales office in France, in Germany and the U.K.
