Hailo, a London, UK-based Taxi app network, raised $30.6m in funding.
The company intends to use the capital to continue to expand its network across the globe.
The round was led by Union Square Ventures, with participation from Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Moscow-based fund Phenomen Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Red Swan Ventures, as well as existing investors Accel Partners, Wellington Partners, Skype Founder Niklas Zennström’s Atomico Ventures. The Japanese telco KDDI also participated and signed an exclusive partnership leveraging its 35m subscribers and relationships to support launches in Asia, starting with Tokyo.
In conjunction with the funding, USV Opportunity Fund Partner John Buttrick joined Hailo’s Board. The company also added Tom Barr, former Starbucks Head of Coffee Business as its new President and COO USA.
Led by Jay Bregman, CEO and Co-Founder, Hailo provides a taxi app in London, Dublin, Toronto, Boston, NYC, Barcelona, Madrid, Chicago and (soon) Tokyo.
