import•io, a London, UK-based cloud-based big data platform, has raised £600k in funding.
Backers include Wellington Partners, Alta Vista founder Louis Monier, and technology investor Emmanuel Javal.
The company intends to use the capital to expand and develop its platform.
Founded in June 2012 and led by David White, CEO, import•io turns the web into a database. It allows companies, developers and coders to extract, connect and fuse disparate sources of data from the web to let them build and create new data sets and applications (see here how it works).
It is used for data journalism, retail trend analysis, commercial intelligence for due diligence and personalized events listing services.
