According to multiple reports, BlackBerry (TSX:BB) co-founders Mike Lazaridis and Doug Fregin have established a $100m venture capital fund.
The vehicle, which will be based in the Waterloo region (Canada), will focus on the development and commercialization of quantum computing, which expands on the bit to make computations faster.
In 1999, Mike Lazaridis already contributed $100m to establish the Waterloo-based Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, a leading centre for scientific research, training and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics.
