According to TechCrunch (read here), Posse, a Sydney, Australia-based web and mobile local discovery platform, raised an additional $500k in funding.
Backers include existing investors Lars Rasmussen (also a board member), and Silicon Valley angel Bill Tai.
Led by Rebekah Campbell, CEO, Posse provides a social search engine that allows users to find things to do and places to explore at a local level (bars, restaurants, gyms, shops, etc.) according to people within their social network and experts (celebrities, chefs, designers, musicians and politicians).
Posse also enables stores to grow by encouraging customers to spread the word. Zara, TopShop and Starbucks have joined the service, which is present in NYC and San Francisco.
To date, the startup has raised over $3.5m from backers including Bill Lee, Elevation Capital, Simon Rothman, Dave Sibley, MLC, and founder Rebekah Campbell.
