Sonar, a NYC-based mobile app that notifies users when their friends are nearby, received a strategic investment from Bing Fund, a Microsoft-backed angel vehicle.
The amount of the funding was not disclosed.
Co-Founded by Brett Martin, CEO, and Brent Hargrave, Sonar is developing a mobile app that tells users when their friends and friends’ friends are nearby, revealing connections and moments occurring at local level. It leverages social and location data from networks like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and LinkedIn to provide context about the people surrounding the user, and helps introduce him/her to relevant people who share interests, friends and professional contacts.
