Coinsetter, a New York City-based bitcoin startup, closed a $500k seed funding.
Backers include Barry Silbert, CEO and founder of SecondMarket, Jimmy Furland, a London-based tech entrepreneur who invested in the company through his Bitcoin Opportunity Fund, Tribeca Venture Partners, a NYC-based venture capital firm, Charles Songhurst, Microsoft head of corporate strategy Ben Davenport, Facebook product lead, and Roger Ver, a bitcoin industry leader.
The company intends to use the funds to advance its solutions.
Led by Jaron Lukasiewicz, founder and CEO, and Marshall Swatt, CTO, Coinsetter is developing a levered forex trading platform for bitcoin that enables people to make levered trades on margin and short the bitcoin market. It will also offer a solution for accredited investors and institutions to earn interest on their bitcoins.
