Qubole, a Palo Alto, CA- and Bangalore, India-based cloud data platform, completed a $7m in Series A funding round.
Backers included Charles River Ventures and Lightspeed Ventures as well as angel investors Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaram.
Co-founded by CEO Ashish Thusoo and Joydeep Sen Sarma, the company provides enterprises of all sizes with an Apache Hadoop-based data service, which is optimized for the Cloud. The company’s data engine enables users to integrate and consolidate data from multiple sources – structured and unstructured, on premise and Cloud – and provides access through analytic tools like Tableau, Excel and R. Its self-service user interface and the library of connectors to SQL sources (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle), NoSQL sources (MongoDB), and MPP platforms (Vertica, Redshift) allows analysts and data teams to combine, correlate, and create actionable insights from their data assets.
