Autodesk acquired the site and core technologies of Tinkercad, a browser-based 3D design tool that allows users to turn ideas into a CAD model for a 3D printer.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Kai Backman, Founder & CEO, said that the company’s shutdown plan has been rolled back (read his announcement here) and that the team of the company will continue to work on the recently announced Airstone (read here), which is a startup based in San Francisco that develops a new simulation product aimed at the product design and engineering markets.
