According to TechCrunch (read here), Hampton Creek Foods, a San Francisco, CA-based food tech startup, raised $1m in funding.
The backer was Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund. The company had previously raised $2m from Khosla Ventures.
Founded by CEO Josh Tetrick, Hampton Creek Foods specializes in the development of plant-based egg ingredients. Its product aims to enable food companies to embed sustainable innovation into their supply chains.
The company recently launched Beyond Eggs, a plant-based egg replacer for baked goods and other food products.
