Hulafrog, Inc., an Atlantic Highlands, NJ-based network of hyperlocal web guides for suburban parents, closed a $500k seed financing.
The round was led by Innovation Garden, with participation from Jumpstart NJ Angel Network and Delaware Crossing Investor Group.
The company intends to use the capital to broaden its product offering and grow its national presence.
Founded in 2010 by Sherry Lombardi and Kerry Bowbliss, Hulafrog is a network that helps parents connect with local events and businesses for kids including parades, puppet shows, music lessons, karate studios, birthday venues, fairs, and kid friendly restaurants, among others.
It is part daily event calendar, part parent-rated business directory available via web, mobile and email.
The company, which is currently live in 28 suburban markets, sells advertising to local businesses and national brands like Mathnasium, Bounce U and Gymboree.
Hulafrog share the revenue with publishers (moms and dads on the ground) who run each market.
