On-Ramp Wireless, a San Diego, CA-based developer of wireless solutions for energy automation and M2M communications, secured an additional $15m in Series C funding.
Backers included new investor Enbridge and existing investors Third Wave Ventures and Energy Technology Ventures – a GE Ventures, NRG Energy, ConocoPhillips joint venture. This investment brings the total raised in the Series C round to $31m.
The company intends to use funds to further commercialize its Smart Grid and Digital Oil Field solutions, and open new markets.
Led by Kevin Hell, president and CEO, On-Ramp has developed a wireless system purpose-built to connect hard-to-reach devices in metro scale and other challenging environments. The On-Ramp Wireless Network enables low-power monitoring and control applications within Smart Grid, oil and gas operations, water efficiency, industrial sensing, and location tracking.
