Scifiniti, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of a drop-in replacement photovoltaic (PV) silicon wafer, raised $10m in Series B funding.
Backers included existing investors Alloy Ventures, Firelake Capital, I2BF Global Ventures and Peninsula Ventures.
The company intends to use the capital to bring SmartWafer, its first product, to market.
Led by Sharone Zehavi, CEO, Scifiniti has developed SmartWafer, which uses a thin, deposited, high-quality silicon layer on a conductive substrate to offer – the company says – the same form-factor as a standard wafer enabling a “drop-in” replacement.
