Superfish, a Palo Alto, CA-based visual search solutions company, raised $10m in Series D funding.
The round was led by Vintage Investment Partners with participation from existing investors DFJ (Draper Fisher Jurvetson), and DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures.
Founded in 2006 by CEO Adi Pinhas and Michael Chertok, Superfish has developed a visual search technology that can analyze an image 100% algorithmically, finding similar images in real-time without the need for text tags or human intervention.
The company, which is applying this technology to enhance the online shopping experience, will use the funds to launch a new solution called Venn, that will focus on photo discovery and sharing, to discover visual patterns and common interests within the social graph.
