Withings, a Paris, France-based provider of health & wellness smart devices and applications, raised $30m in its second round of funding.
Backers included Bpifrance, which injected $15m, Idinvest Partners and 360 Capital Partners, as well as current investor Ventech.
The company intends to use the capital to accelerate international expansion extending its retail and distribution network and to support innovation, strengthening its in‐house R&D teams by hiring software and hardware engineers and developers.
Founded in 2008 by Cédric Hutchings and Éric Carreel, Withings has developed a comprehensive eco‐system around Digital Health, made of devices coupled with user‐friendly mobile applications. The company offers Wi‐Fi Body Scales, the Smart Blood Pressure Monitor, the Smart Baby Monitor, the Smart Body Analyzer, which measures heart rate and air quality in addition to traditional weight and body composition measurements, and the Withings Pulse, a pocket‐sized activity tracking device monitoring a wide array of parameters such as heart rate, steps taken, distance covered, elevation, calories burned and quality of sleep.
