Wool and the Gang, a London, UK-based global handcrafted and knitted fashion brand, raised $2.8m in funding.
The round was led by Index Ventures and Wellington Partners, with participation from MMC Ventures and a number of other tech investors.
The company intends to use the funds to develop his new Gang Collection™ and marketplace, as well as to expand its existing markets in the U.S., UK, Europe and Japan.
Co-founded in 2008 by Central Saint Martins textile design graduates Jade Harwood and Aurelie Popper and led by Lisa Rodwell, CEO, Wool and the Gang is a global fashion brand that handcrafts or knits each item via a team of artisans and makers around the world.
The company has also launched The Gang Collection™, a collection made and customized by a community of makers which initially features two different handbag styles and sold on Wool and The Gang’s marketplace.
