Flixel Photos Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based developer of an application that allows users to combine features of video and still photos creating a Cinemagraph, raised $770k in funding.
The round includes a loan investment of $375k from the Canadian Media Fund “CMF” and $395k from a group of high net worth accredited investors such as Brice Scheschuk, CFO, Globalive/WIND Mobile. Model Tyra Banks recently invested in Flixel through her own Fierce Capital (read here).
The company intends to use the funds to enhance its software application and increase marketing initiatives.
Led by Philippe LeBlanc, CEO, Flixel provides an app that allows users to combine features of video and photos creating a “Cinemagraph”, a still image with moving elements, on mobile and desktop.
Flixel has collaborated with brands including the Marilyn Monroe clothing line in a recent Macy’s digital marketing campaign. Tyra Banks has incorporated Flixels in her current season of the hit TV show America’s Next Top Model “ANTM” which will generate significant exposure and awareness for the app as well as the company’s B2B service.
