Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX), a Sunnyvale, CA-based supplier of interconnect solutions for servers and storage systems, acquired Kotura, Inc., a Monterey Park, California-based developer of advanced silicon photonics optical interconnect technology for high-speed networking applications, for approximately $82m.
The transaction aims to enhance the ability of Mellanox to provide technologies for high speed, scalable and efficient end-to-end interconnect solutions.
Led by Eyal Waldman, president and CEO, Mellanox Technologies provides end-to-end interconnect solutions and services for servers and storage. It offers adapters, switches, software, cables and silicon for a wide range of markets including high performance computing, enterprise data centers, Web 2.0, cloud, storage and financial services.
Following the acquisition, Kotura’s current location in Monterey Park will serve as Mellanox’s first R&D center in the United States.
According to our sources, Kotura has raised $38.7m in funding sice inception in Autumn 2003. It was advised Stubbs Alderton & Markiles in the transaction.
