Swiftype, a San Francisco-based search startup, raised $1.7m in seed funding.
Backers included Andreesen Horowitz Seed, New Enterprise Associates, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers and Ignition Capital as well as angel investors Sam Altman, SV Angel, Alexis Ohanian, Paul Buchheit, Crunchfund, DST/Start Fund, Garry Tan, Harj Taggar, Jared Kopf, William Morris Endeavor, Data Collective, Scribd founders Jared Friedman and Trip Adler, and Tikhon Bernstam.
Founded in 2012 by Matt Riley and Quinlan Hoxie, Swiftype provides hosted site search solutions, which offer an advanced search experience and analytics that can be used to increase conversions sales and drive return visits. The company’s tools are currently used by more than 70,000 websites.
Swiftype is a Y Combinator startup.
