HotelTonight, a San Francisco, California-based on-demand mobile hotel booking app, secured $45m in Series D financing.
The round, which brought the total amount raised by the company to date to $80.35m, was led by Coatue Management, with participation from GGV Capital and existing investors Battery Ventures, Accel Partners, U.S. Venture Partners (USVP), and First Round Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to increase its product, sales and support staff in the next year, as well as open additional global offices, expand its domestic and overseas presence and hotel relationships, as well as to further enhance its on-demand booking platform, adding features designed for mobile travelers and real-time needs of its hotel partners.
Launched in 2011 by Sam Shank, CEO, and Jared Simon, COO, HotelTonight provides easy mobile booking of same-day unsold hotel inventory. It is currently available in over 100 destinations across the globe and the app can be downloaded for free on iPhone, iPad and any Android.
