Matterport, Inc., a Mountain View, CA-based developer of cloud-based 3D models of interior spaces, raised a $2.8m Series A-1 financing.
Backers included Crate & Barrel founder Gordon Segal and Sling Media co-founder Blake Krikorian.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development of the platform.
Led by Matt Bell, co-founder and CEO, Matterport has developed a system for automatically creating, modifying, and experiencing cloud-based 3D digital models of physical spaces. The models give architects, designers, inspectors, and other users a realistic walk-through of a space and also contain accurate measurement data, delivering linear distance between any two points and area measurements of any surface.
Matterport’s system is already used by various industries including retail, property insurance, indoor mapping, and construction management.
This funding brings the total capital raised to date to $10m. Investors in the company include Lux Capital, Felicis Ventures, Greylock Partners, Navitas Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Red Swan Ventures, and Rothenberg Ventures.
Matterport is hiring.
