OmniGuide Surgical, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based medical device company specializing in advanced energy surgical products, closed a $15m financing.
Backers included existing investors including Stata Venture Partners, Argonaut, and Electro Scientific Industries.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its growth in Gynecology and to launch new products into the ENT market.
Led by Scott Flora, President and Chief Executive Officer, OmniGuide leverages CO2 laser, which causes less damage to tissue versus other advanced energy products, to improve a surgeon’s experience in the operating room around critical structures such as nerves, blood vessels, reproductive organs, bladders and bowels.
Its BeamPath® Laser System for minimally invasive surgery, which has been used in nearly 100,000 surgical procedures primarily in the fields of Gynecology and ENT, is based on proprietary technology invented at MIT and originally published in Science and Nature.
