Sportlobster.com, a UK-based sports social network, raised $1m in funding.
The investor was Wychwood Capital Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow.
Co-founded by CEO Andy Meikle and COO Arron Shepherd, Sportlobster provides sports fans with news, rumours, photos and videos, events scheduling, predictions and blogs. It features Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen, Sky Formula One presenter Natalie Pinkham, and former Manchester United footballer Terry Gibson.
The company currently employs nearly 20 programmers and marketing professionals and intends to hire other people.
