Systems Maintenance Services, Inc., a Charlotte, NC-based global provider of multivendor IT asset lifecycle services and support solutions, received a “significant” equity investment from Summit Partners.
Following the investment, John Carroll, a Summit Partners Managing Director, and Peter Rottier, a Principal, will join SMS’ Board of Directors. Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P., a private equity firm focused on investments in global businesses, will remain the majority shareholder.
The company intends to use the proceeds for its organic and strategic growth strategies.
Founded in 1981 and led by Don Doctor, Chairman & CEO, SMS provides an advanced service portfolio which includes asset management, deployment, relocation, disposition, recycling, erasure, maintenance, and managed network and VOIP services.
It supports more than 3,000 clients globally with physical locations across North America, Asia and Europe.
Clients include datacenter brands such as Cisco, IBM, HP, Dell, Oracle, EMC, Hitachi, NetApp, Lexmark and Xerox.
