Coursera, a Mountain View, CA-basedĀ massive open online course (MOOC) platform, raised an additional $20m in funding to its Series B round.
This brings the total Series B raise to $63m. Backers included three universities that offer courses on Coursera, as well as existing investors GSV Capital and Learn Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to expand partnerships with universities as well as develop its internal capacity, building-out its product and recruiting teams.
Led by Daphne Koller, co-founder, Coursera offers free online access to classes from universities and institutions. Its education platform offers video lectures, interactive content and a global community of peers, whichĀ currently includes more than 100 institutional partners in 19 countries, 700 professors and 5.5 million learners worldwide.
