Origin Ventures, a Northbrook, Illinois-based early-stage venture capital firm, closed its third fund at $47m.
Origin Ventures III LP will focus on Series A financing for companies in software, e-commerce, digital media and ad technology.
Co-founded by Steve Miller and Bruce Barron in 1999, the firm has completed five investments out of Fund III to date, including Aisle50, Iris Mobile, Whittl, DoggyLoot and City Scan.
Previous investments include several market-leading companies, including GrubHub Seamless, ifbyphone, Shoutlet, ClaimForce and Campus Explorer.
Origin recently added Brent Hill and Eric Olson to the team.
