theSkimm, a NYC-based provider of a daily e-mail newsletter that aims to simplify the headlines for professional women, raised $1.1m in seed financing.
The round was led by Homebrew with participation from RRE Ventures, Troy Carter of Atom Factory, Bob Pittman, Gordon Crawford, Richard Greenfield, and angels including Lizzie & Jonathan Tisch, Nancy & Jeffrey B. Lane, and Five Island Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to scale the team and operations. It focuses on improving the user experience and implementing partnerships.
Led by Carly Zakin, TheSkimm provides educated professionals, mainly women, with a daily newsletter that aims to simplify the headlines and explain them with editorial content.
