eGifter, a Melville, NY-based social gifting company, closed a $1.7m BB angel financing round.
The round was led by Bob Brill of Newlight Management who is also a Director of the LIAN and on the Board of eGifter, with participation from Barry and Brian Rubenstein from Wheatley Partners and BDS Venture Fund LLC, Russ Artzt, the co-founder of Computer Associates (now CA Technologies) and other tech and tech investment leaders from Long Island.
The company, which has now raised nearly $3m in 2013, intends to use the funds to expand its social gifting platform.

It enables consumers to purchase eGift cards from over 150 major brands and give them to their friends on social networks and by email, complete with an animated eGreeting card, personalized message and video.
More than a dozen major retailers have adopted the solution since its launch in June.
The company also operates a consumer facing marketplace which launched in 2012 and is available on Apple iOS, Android, and on the web.
eGifter is now hiring and aims to raise another round of financing in 2014.
