BaasBox, a Rome, Italy-based open source backend for mobile apps, raised €300k in funding.
The round included a seed round of €200k by LVenture, Seeweb, and a €94k contribution from Filas.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the platform and expand operations.
Co-founded by Claudio Tesoriero and Federico Pacilli, BaasBox (BaaS stands for Back-end as a Service) provides a server that features back-end services for mobile apps and web applications such as user management, content management, mobile features such as geo-location functions, check-ins, venues lists, etc. Users can download BaasBox, deploy it wherever they want and connect their application to the Box. BaasBox can be installed on laptops, servers, on a PaaS provider (including RedHat OpenShift) or on a IaaS provider (e.g. Amazon AWS).
The company has been incubated in Enlabs.
