Tute Genomics, a Provo Utah-based developer of advanced genome analysis software, raised $1.5m in seed funding.
Backers included Wilmington Pharmatech, Salt Lake Life Sciences Angels, Peak Ventures, Park City Angel Network, and a number of individual angel investors. Additionally, Tute raised approximately $300K from AngelList, via their new Syndicate mechanism.
The company intends to use the funds to further develop its software.
Led by Reid J. Robison, MD MBA, CEO, and Dr. Kai Wang, President, Tute Genomics provides a cloud-based genome interpretation platform which uses proprietary machine-learning algorithms to rapidly prioritize clinically relevant genetic variants, genes and pathways to allow researchers to discover novel disease genes and identify predictive biomarkers.
It now includes over 90 annotation types, scoring methods and genetic databases.
The company participated in the BoomStartup accelerator program in Utah this year.
