Tictail Raises $8M in Series A Funding

tictail_blue_transparentTictail, a Stockholm, Sweden and New York City-based DIY e-commerce platform, raised $8m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Thrive Capital with participation from Balderton Capital, Project A Ventures and Creandum, Scott Belsky, founder and CEO of Behance; Andy Dunn, founder of Red Swan Ventures, and founder and CEO of Bonobos; Nick D’Aloisio, founder of Summly; and Jesse Derris, founder and CEO of Derris & Company.

The company intends to use the funds to open a New York office focused on growth in North America.

Founded in May 2011 by Swedish entrepreneur Carl Waldekranz (CEO) and co-founders Kaj Drobin, Birk Nilson, and Siavash Ghorbani, Tictail provides a free-to-use DIY e-commerce platform that allows an individual or retailer to set up a virtual store. Over 35,000 stores in 110 countries have been creted in two years of activity.
