500px, a Toronto, Canada-based photography community for discovering, sharing, buying and selling photos, acquired Authintic, a Toronto and New York City-based analytics technology company.
The transaction, whose amount was not disclosed, aims to bring additional data sciences and advertising industry expertise as 500px enters the photo licensing business.
Authintic focuses its technology on providing customer recommendations from permission-based social signals. Following the deal, its CEO, Andrew Cherwenka, joined 500px as Managing Director, 500px Prime-the commercial licensing marketplace currently in beta, while Chief Science Officer Christopher Berry, joined as Data Scientist in Residence.
Founded in 2009 and led by Oleg Gutsol, CEO, 500px has raised over $10 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Harrison Metal, ff Ventures, and other investors and has an office in San Francisco, USA.
