Banjo Raises $16M in Series B Financing

-

banjo_logotypeBanjo, a Redwood City, Calif.-based social discovery app, raised $16m in Series B financing.

The round was led by Balderton Capital with participation from BlueRun Ventures and Vegas Tech Fund.

The company, which has now raised $21m, intends to use the funds to accelerate growth plans by recruiting new people, expanding the global user base and enhancing the enterprise platform for media partnerships.

Founded in 2011 by Damien Patton, CEO, Banjo is a visual app and website that allows users to experience breaking news and live events in real time through people who are there,
Last week, the company launched its first web version and went live on iOS and Android with a new feature called Banjo Rewind, which allows people to search past events and go back to specific moments in time. Now it combines its real time location-based curation with a full historical view into what happened in the past around the world.
