Circle Internet Financial, a Boston, MA-basedĀ digital currency company, closed a $17m Series B financing.
The round was led by investor Oak Investment Partners, with participation from Pantera Capital, the Bitcoin Opportunity Fund of Barry Silbert, Leonard H. Schrank, Circle board member M. Michele Burns, and Fenway Summer, a consumer finance advisory and venture firm led by Circle board member Raj Date.
Founded in 2013 by CEO Jeremy Allaire and CTO Sean Neville,Ā Circle is building a suite of online products for end-users, businesses and charities aimed at enabling greater use in online and in-person payments, enhanced security and privacy for consumers, and lower costs for businesses in accepting digital payments.
The company’s products, which entered limited availability release today,Ā will be generally available later this year.
Circle has international operations headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
