Hortonworks, a Palo Alto, CA-based provider of enterprise Apache™ Hadoop, closed a $100m funding.
The round was led by funds managed by BlackRock and Passport Capital, with participation from all existing investors (Tenaya Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures and Yahoo!).
Led by Rob Bearden, CEO, Hortonworks develops, distributes and supports the open source Apache Hadoop data platform that integrates with existing IT investments and upon which enterprises can build and deploy (Hadoop-based) applications.
Strategic resell partners include Microsoft, SAP, Teradata, HP and others and the company intends to use the funds to further accelerate the enablement of these partners to sell HDP into their customer base as part of their offerings.
