Nitrous.IO, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based cloud-based developer platform, secured $6.65m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from 500 Startups, Crunchfund, Eduardo Saverin and Golden Gate Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Sunil Nagaraj of Bessemer Venture Partners joined Nitrous.IO’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its platform.
Led by Andrew J. Solimine, CEO, Nitrous.IO provides a preconfigured platform in the cloud that allow developers to create and start programming in a new PHP, Java, Node.JS, Python, Ruby or Go development environment from any browser or using local editors, while inviting collaborators worldwide to contribute.
Users include Heroku, Hashrocket and over 100,000 developers from 4,000 organizations for professional, open-source, and personal projects.
