Pythian, an Ottawa, Canada-based provider of data management consulting and services, raised $6m in funding.
Investors include the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
The company intends to use the funds to expand the market reach of its solution.
Led by Paul Vallée, Founder and Executive Chairman, Pythian provides Adminiscope, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) data security solution, for retailers to eliminate data security breaches and continue to collect, store, and monetize massive amounts of sensitive data.
Adminiscope offers a privileged session management solution to secure access to enterprise systems, cloud infrastructures, databases, servers, and applications, and enables stakeholders to monitor and record in real time all privileged activity performed across an IT infrastructure.
It is used by more than 5,000 systems with plans to protect 10,000 systems by the end of 2014.
