London, UK-based venture capital firm Balderton Capital closed its fifth European fund at $305m.
The fund, which was raised from existing limited partners as well as new investors including the European Investment Fund, will back European technology startups.
Rebranded in 2007 from Benchmark Capital Europe and led by Bernard Liautaud, General Partner, Balderton Capital is the vc firm behind Betfair, Lovefilm, MySQL, NaturalMotion and Yoox.
Its current portfolio includes Housetrip, Kobalt, Scytl, Talend, Wonga and Wooga. Recent investments include European companies such as GoCardless, Lyst, Top10.com, and Vivino, among others.
The firm recently added Suranga Chandratillake, the founder of blinkx (IPO in 2012), and Daniel Waterhouse, formerly of Yahoo! and board member of EyeEm, Hailo and YPlan, as partners.
