Birchbox, a New York-based beauty ecommerce company, closed a $60m Series B funding.
The round was led by Viking Global Investors, with participation from existing investors First Round Capital, Accel Partners, Aspect Partners, Glynn Capital, Comcast Ventures, Sam Lessin, Consigliere Brand Capital, Slow Ventures, Red Swan Ventures and TriplePoint Venture Growth BDC Corp.
The company intends to use the funds to support existing initiatives, global expansion and new growth opportunities.
Launched in 2010 by Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna, Birchbox offers consumers a personalized way to discover, learn about and purchase beauty, grooming and lifestyle products.
It allows users to enjoy first-touch experiences with new products each month, access to expert editorial content, buy a handpicked selection of products from more than 800 top brands such as Lancôme, Laura Mercier, Benefit, Stila, Caudalie, Payot, L’Occitane, Bourjois, and L’Oreal.
Birchbox currently has more than 800,000 members and 250 employees worldwide.
