Fitnet, a Blacksburg, VA-based developer of a mobile fitness training app, raised $1.4m in Series A financing.
Backers included Valleys’ Ventures, LP and CIT Gap Funds.
The company intends to use the funds to expand the capabilities of the app and increase workouts available.
Launched in January 2014 by Bob Summers, Fitnet provides a mobile fitness training app that uses a webcam to score clients on human led (Yoga, Taiji, strength and cardio) workout sessions. Using computer vision technology, the app connects clients with personal trainers – complete with real-time individual feedback and workout scoring. Workouts can be customized by level and preference, trainer feedback, and adjustments based on past performance.
