Intel Capital has just launched a $100m fund to accelerate the delivery of Intel technology-based devices in China and beyond.
Intel Capital China Smart Device Innovation Fund will back Chinese startups that develops smart devices, including tablets, smart phones, PCs, 2in1s, wearables, the Internet of Things, and other related technologies in China.
This is the third China-focused fund Intel Capital has established and will complement the existing Intel Capital China Technology Fund II, which focuses on broader investment areas such as data center and cloud infrastructure, big data and analytics, software and services, manufacturing, and Intel Labs.
The firm, which has investment professionals based in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, started investing in China in 1998 and (to date) has invested over $670m in more than 110 Chinese technology companies.
