Quora, a Mountain View, CA-based Q&A site, raised $80m in Series C funding.
The round, which reportedly values the company at approximately $900m (read here), was led by Tiger Global with participation from existing investors Benchmark, Matrix Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners, and Peter Thiel.
The company intends to use the funds for international expansion and product improvement.
Founded in 2009 by CEO Adam D’Angelo and Charlie Cheever, Quora is a source for knowledge for users to create, edit, and organize questions and answers. The platform organizes people (doctors, economists, screenwriters, police officers to name a few) and their interests so they can find and share the information most valuable to them.
Users can also create a personalized homepage by following topics, questions, people and boards.
