According to a post on its blog, Giphy, a NYC-based developer of a platform for GIFs, raised a funding of undisclosed amount.
Backers included Betaworks, Lerer Ventures, RRE Ventures, and CAA Ventures.
The company intends to use the capital, which could amount to $2.4m according to reports, to continue to grow and expand the platform.
Founded by Alex Chung, Giphy operates a GIF platform to search, share, and discover GIFs. It features a link shortener and is realising tools for GIF uploads, a suite of creation tools, a new home page of all the best GIFs on the internet in real time, a new mobile optimized site, mp4 embeds of GIFs.
