Sinch, a Stockholm, Sweden- and San Francisco, CA-based provider of a communications platform, raised $12m in funding.
Investors include Index Ventures and Balderton Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to hire additional U.S. sales and business development staff.
Led by CEO Andreas Bernström, Sinch provides developers with a communications platform that enables iOS and Android developers to add a layer of voice and messaging to their apps.
The service, which at launch will offer free calling, messaging, group messaging, SMS and call termination, can be integrated into an app in 15 minutes or less.
The company, which was originally incubated within mobile VoIP giant Rebtel as a developer API, has a team of over 40 employees.
