Aphria, a Leamington, Ontario, Canada-based medical marijuana startup, raised $6.2m in funding.
The Delavaco Group provided the capital. Previous backers included Front St. Capital, York Plains and Broadband Capital.
Founded in 2013 and led by newly named CEO Vic Neufeld (a founding investor), Aphria applies science and innovative greenhouse technology to grow and supply medical marijuana, providing a natural alternative healthcare solutions. The company says it grows all of their plants without the use of pesticides, and a computerized drip irrigation system to ensure that each individual plant receives the exact amount of water and nutrients necessary for it.
