Songza, a Long Island City, NY-based free streaming music service, has been acquired by Google (NASDAQ:GOOG).
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Built by the team that founded crowd-priced MP3 download store AmieStreet.com in 2006 from their dorms at Brown University, Songza is available on the web at www.Songza.com and as an application on iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10, and Windows 8.
According to a note, no immediate changes to Songza are planned, “other than making it faster, smarter, and even more fun to use“.
