Hinge, a NYC-based app that allows users to meet new people through friends, received $4.5m in funding.
Backers included Founders Fund, Lowercase Capital, CAA Ventures, Lumia Capital, Middleland Capital and Great Oaks.
The company, which has raised 8.6m in funding to date, intends to use the funds realize its vision of becoming a social discovery network.
Led by Justin McLeod, Founder and CEO, Hinge is a social discovery network that allows new people to meet through friends.
Launched in DC in 2013, the company is now located in NYC’s Flatiron district and has grown its active user base over 300% since the beginning of the year. It now makes over 35K matches per day among young professionals in NYC, DC, SF and other major US cities.
