BackupAgent, a Delft, the Netherlands-based provider of a cloud backup platform for small and medium businesses, was recently acquired by Acronis, a global data protection leader.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2005 by Roland Sars and Robbert van Geldrop, BackupAgent is a global cloud backup vendor working with over 900 service providers, and protecting petabytes of data for more than 50 thousand small and medium business customers across the world.
Backed by Runa Capital and Solid Ventures, the company’s solution will be powered by Acronis AnyData Engine technology, allowing service providers to deliver new generation data protection technologies via a cloud backup solution.
Founded in 2002 and led by Birger Steen, CEO, Acronis is a global provider of backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sharing and file access solutions. The company has more than 650 employees in 18 countries and more than 5 million of individual users and more than 300 thousand organizations.
