Wedding Spot, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based online marketplace for future brides and grooms to search, price, and book wedding venues, raised $3.0m in seed funding.
Backers included Atlas Venture and KEC Ventures, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Maiden Lane, Canyon Creek Capital, Erik Blachford (former CEO of Expedia), Eric Liaw (Institutional Venture Partners), Yidrienne Lai, and David Rodnitzky.
The company, which had previously raised $250k December 2013 (read here), intends to use the funds to expand its product offering to the broader events market and accelerate its presence to all 50 states.
Founded by former Venture Capitalist Tina Hoang-To in 2013, Wedding Spot provides a search platform where users can retrieve instant online price quotes for each of its venues.
Working directly with venues, Wedding Spot gathers all the information required to allow couples to search for venues based on budget, location, style, and guest count. Users can “build out” their ideal wedding day by selecting specific services and options to see a price estimate and then book a venue viewing appointment. Its technology and tools enable wedding venues to manage their entire wedding booking process on its platform, including acquiring customers, organizing content, and marketing inventory.
It is currently operating in 13 states and has more than 1,000 venues listed.
